Our patent-pending softshell is a precast shell, which main function is to restore blade geometry and protect the blade from future erosion.
All sensitive processes, that are associated with Leading Edge Protection, are moved away from the often harsh environment that wind turbines are placed in. Instead, the softshell is produced in climate controlled paint booths. This ensures a uniform, high-quality result every time.
The shell is reinforced to make a barrier that absorbs the impacts of erosion. It also ensures bonding between the softshell and the glue which holds it in place.
The softshell is cast using the geometry of the specific blade on which it will be mounted. Afterwards it is cured at room temperature. Through this careful process, the materials maintain their superior properties and high durability.
The softshell is cast in lengths, which are determined by the blade’s speed in operation. It is mounted in one piece, which eliminates the risks that having one more or joints would pose.
